Our aim is to provide syllabuses in all three sciences that will interest and excite our pupils, whether or not they continue to study the subject beyond GCSE level. We place great emphasis on basing our teaching on current scientific issues. In this way all pupils enjoy the personal satisfaction of interpreting scientific information for themselves, rather than having to memorise large quantities of disjointed scientific facts.
Pupils study Biology, Chemistry and Physics concurrently throughout the two years of the GCSE course. Each subject is taught by a specialist in a laboratory dedicated to that particular science.
Most pupils sit the GCSE examinations as a Double Award - where two GCSE Science grades are awarded. However, some pupils are given the choice to take either the Single Award Science (where one GCSE grade is awarded) or the Triple Award Science (GCSE grades in all three subjects).
